Inside A Dossier Tour

Now we have entered a dossier. The main changes here are to the center piece, number 4, on the previous page. This shows how the contents of a dossier is broken down into four pieces. Each piece is divided by a grey bar with a title in it. We call it a "Dossier" and not a folder because a dossier is a collection of sources containing detailed information about a particular subject. Dossiers can contain varying sources of information.
Dossier Anatomy:

  1. The first division lists all the dossier's sub-dossiers. You can organize your dossiers hierarchically to any level. We will be showing more of this particular section next.
  2. The next section shows a related dossier. You can relate dossiers across hierarchical boundaries which is convenient if you want to categorize stuff in different areas. You can also add labels to web references to "tag" them outside of the hierarchy. You can add as many labels as you want to a web reference to help you organize them better.
  3. The last section is the list of web references associated with this dossier. This is where you keep information regarding your particular subject or what ever you want. Stars beside the title mean that that web reference is public, nothing public here, just thought I'd mention it.
  4. If there was another section it would be where the active content resided. That is, the RSS content that you subscribed too, but it's not there because I couldn't fit it in the picture.

Notice how each web reference has certain functions associated with it like mailing, editing, aiming, alias, and exchanging. You can do all that. More later. Continue...
